In Tyumen region (Russia) SGS delivered the certificate to TNK-Nizhnevartovsk (part of TNK-BP) testifying the conformity of corporate environmental management system to the international ISO 14001:2004 standard.

The ceremony was opened by Alexander Zhagrin, head of the business unit «Samotlor» of TNK-BP. Then Alexander Zolnikov, head of environmental audit of Russian Academy of Natural Sciences in Khanty-Manssiysk, on behalf of SGS presented copies of certificates to TNK-Nizhnevartovsk top-management. Valery Batrashkin, acting general director of TNK-Nizhnevartovsk read out the order rewarding most active contributors to the environmental management system establishment. At the end of the event employees of the environmental department sang the TNK-Nizhnevartovsk hymn of ecologists.

TNK-BP is Russia’s second largest oil company. The company employs close to 100,000 people and operates in nearly all of Russia’s major hydrocarbon regions.

TNK-Nizhnevartovsk develops 6 deposits — the Lor-Egan field, the Samotlor field (northern part); the Gun-Egan field; the Tyumen field, the Nikolsk field; and the Novo-Molodezhnoye field. TNK-Nizhnevartovsk harbors 273.0 million tons of aggregate licensed reserves. In 2002, the producer unit lifted 6.8 million tons of oil.
