Tikhvin forest enterprise opted for FSC certification
In December 2006, Tikhvin forest enterprise, owned by UPM, has been successfully audited to check the compliance of 184 thousand ha of forests with Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) standards. SGS Vostok Limited carried out the audit as per international FSC principles and criteria.
Prior to the audit, the company worked hard to bring forest management and logging in accordance with international forestry certification standards. Particular attention has been paid to health safety and accidents prevention, environment protection, forest management and planning, administrative issues and staff training. UPM intends to further develop economics- and environment driven forest management practices.
