In March 2008, the SGS Agricultural Laboratory in Novorossiysk has been approved to issue analysis certificates for Grain and Feedingstuffs under the GAFTA Analysts Scheme as a result of the successful completion of the Round 1 Ring Test 2008. Same capabilities have been reconfirmed for SGS facility in Rostov, which has been going through the GAFTA ring test procedure starting since 2003.

GAFTA is the abbreviation for Grain and Feed Trade Association. GAFTA's aim to promote the international trade and to protect the interests of its members has been the driving force since 1878, when the London Corn Trade Association started operations.

Laboratories engaged in the profession of sample analysis, providing certificates on the quality for grain, animal feedingstuffs, pulses and rice, traded on GAFTA Contracts terms should be approved to be listed on the GAFTA Analysts Register. A ring test is organised by GAFTA to assess the ability of an applicant analyst to produce accurate and reliable analytical data. Once approved participating analysts continue to demonstrate their ability on a continuing basis by means of two ring tests in January and July each year.

The next GAFTA Analysts Scheme test round will take place in July 2008.
