Coal Quality Verification Project is launched for TGK 14
Starting from April 1, 2010 the power generating company TGK-14 launches the pilot project for quality verification of all large coal deliveries for its subsidiaries. The intention is to verify over 280 thousand tons of coal in SGS laboratories within one month.
According to the Deputy General Director for Economics and Finance of TGK-14 Evgueniy Zhubanov the reason for such a verification project is the unstable quality of supplied coal.
Certification will, first of all, make suppliers care about coal quality, which will result in coal cost decrease. Secondly, the agreement signed with SGS is another step to reduce energy intensity as stipulated in the Concept for Long-Term Social and Economic Development of the Russian Federation by 2020. Thirdly, this will allow to restrain generator’s expenses for fuel from further growing, which would positively influence consumer tariffs.
TGK-14 supplies heat energy to consumers in the territory of Baikal Region and Republic of Buryatiya.
