Kurdistan Introduces New Conformity Assessment Program for Imports
The Kurdistan Standardization and Quality Control Administration (KSQCA) nominated SGS to conduct inspection, testing and certification of goods exported to Kurdistan. This conformity assessment program is scheduled to start on January 15, 2012. The program aims at protecting consumers, manufacturers and the national economy of Kurdistan from import of low quality, forbidden and counterfeit products.
In the framework of this program the following product categories are liable to mandatory conformity assessment: toys, electronics, transportation means, tyres and automotive components, construction materials, cosmetics and household goods, chemicals, garments, shoes and textile.
As a result of the product verification SGS will be issuing the certificate of conformity for the purpose of customs clearance in Kurdistan.
