On May 16, 2012 SGS delivered ISO 9001:2008 and FSSC 22000 certificates to Orkla Brands Russia in relation to its two branches in the Northwest Russia - the confectionary factory named after N.K. Krupskaya and the confectionary plant Pekar - being certified.

The audit of quality and food safety management systems implemented at the confectionary factory named after N.K. Krupskaya and the confectionary plant Pekar was carried out by experts from SGS Vostok Limited, the Russian subsidiary of the SGS Group in February 2012. During the audit, compliance of the management systems with ISO 9001:2008 (quality management) and with FSSC 22000 (food safety management) requirements was to be verified. SGS auditors highlighted the analytical component of the management system. In particular, analysis of the QMS by management team is supported by a large amount of the gathered data regarding the system’s performance, detailed market analysis is conducted on a regular basis, management assessment is based on the 360-degree feedback. As a result of the audit, SGS issued the ISO 9001 and FSSC 22000 certificates under SAS accreditation.

While delivering the certificates, Konstantin Timoshechkin, Business Development Manager of Systems and Services Certification in Eastern Europe at the SGS Group, congratulated the Orkla Brands Russia branches’ personnel and emphasized that a management system implementation cannot be successful without every employee of an organization to be involved.

Dmitriy Ufimkin, Quality and New Product Development Director at Orkla Brands Russia said that the availability of an FSSC 22000 certificate opens new opportunities for the company with regard to market expansion since a GFSI-recognized certificate is a pre-requisite of global food market leaders towards their suppliers. Namely, according to the METRO Group quality strategy all Russian suppliers of Metro Cash and Carry and real,-Hypermarket manufacturing Private Labels have to get certified under one of the GFSI-recognized standard.

Orkla Brands Russia is member of the Norwegian Orkla Group. Currently Orkla Brands Russia is listed among top five leaders of the Russian confectionery market and produces all major kinds of confectionery - chocolate, sweets, caramel, biscuits, wafers at factories in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region, Ekaterinburg and Ulyanovsk.
