SGS Conducted the First Inspection of Sulphur Above the Arctic Circle
SibSulphur is an export-import company established in 2005. SibSulphur has been partnering with MMC Norilsk Nickel selling industrial sulphur in the framework of the regional environmental program. In March 2012, SGS conducted the inspection of the first export consignment of industrial sulphur in the sea port Dudinka, located North of Krasnoyarsk Region in the lower reaches of the Yenisei River, upon the request of SibSulphur.
During the two-week period the team of experts from SGS Vostok Limited, the Russian subsidiary of the SGS Group, witnessed the loading process, carried out sampling and laboratory testing. SGS scope of responsibilities also included weight determination by draft-survey. Moreover, before the cargo has been loaded on the vessel SGS inspectors verified the holds.
Igor Saprin, Minerals Services Manager for Northwest Russia, SGS Vostok Limited: “Dudinka is the largest port in Siberia and one of the major Arctic ports and we are happy to complete our first inspection project here. The objective of inspection services, which are traditional for SGS, is to provide the seller and the buyer with independent and impartial data to minimize risks during a commercial deal implementation”.
