SGS Testing Facility in Russia Develops Mineral Exploration Services
SGS keeps implementing the upgrade of their testing facility in Novokuznetsk and Chernogorsk (Siberia) with the objective to extend the range of services provided in the exploration market as well as to increase productivity, speed and quality of analysis.
Thanks to the implementation of another stage of the investment program now SGS has the possibility to conduct both analysis of core samples, including float-sink and washability tests, and full range of physical tests of rocks, namely to identify strength, grain size, abrasivity, durability and other physical parameters.
Knowing these parameters along with coal quality characteristics allows to make informed processing decisions at the design stage of the project.
The SGS testing facility’s modern highly productive equipment provides for a monthly capacity of a few dozen thousand samples, which allows to increase the turnaround time significantly. More importantly, the tests conducted by SGS conform with the JORC Code, which is widely accepted as a standard for Public Reporting purposes by mining companies.
“By investing in the extension of our testing facility we want to satisfy the increasing demand for high quality analytical services in exploration”, commented Andrey Grinenko, Urals and Siberial Branch Manager at SGS Vostok Limited. “Besides, the new laboratory capabilities will enable us to serve not only mining companies, but also the construction sector through delivery of physical tests for rocks, bricks and concrete”.
