We are pleased to announce the launch of a new testing service by SGS in Russia to study seed quality of cereals, leguminous crops and oil-yielding crops, effective on 1 April 2015.

The new laboratory has been established within the SGS testing facility in Voronezh and fully equipped to test seeds of corn, soybeans, wheat and barley in order to verify their sowing characteristics (germination, purity, weight of 1000 seeds, etc). In the future, we plan to expand the new laboratory’s scope of services to other crops.

Seed quality analysis plays an important part in an agricultural chain. Seed quality testing allows to ensure proper plant growth without additional energy costs (fertilizers, pesticides), to reduce negative impact of weeds, diseases, pests and consequently increase crop yield and production quality as well as to assure sustainability of the field.

Alexander Shishkin, Agricultural Services Business Development Manager at SGS Vostok Limited, the Russian subsidiary of the SGS Group: “We use both Russian and international methods to conduct seed quality testing in our SGS Voronezh laboratory. In addition to laboratory seed testing we offer professional sampling services, which improves the accuracy of analysis."

Sergey Derzhavin, Agricultural Services Business Manager at SGS Vostok Limited, the Russian subsidiary of the SGS Group: “Thanks to our highly qualified staff, modern analytical equipment and the efficient quality management system implemented at our laboratories we can provide our customers with high level testing service. In addition, our 130-year experience in field of agricultural services ensures international recognition of our test reports.”
